Heather Larson is a dedicated Richmond School District trustee whose nearly two decades of experience in local education have shaped her reputation as a thoughtful, hardworking, and community-focused leader. Her career in SD38 includes serving as an Educational Assistant, Homestay Coordinator, and Buyer in the Purchasing Department, roles that gave her a deep, practical understanding of classroom realities, district operations, and the needs of both students and staff.

Elected to the Board of Education in 2018, Heather quickly became known for her collaborative approach and her commitment to strengthening relationships across the district. During her first term, she chaired the Education Committee and served on all standing committees, bringing her broad district experience directly to the board table. She also represented SD38 on the SOGI Advisory Committee, the City of Richmond's Sister City Committee, the Child Care Development Advisory Committee, and the Council Board Liaison Committee, reflecting her belief in strong partnerships between schools and the wider community.

In 2023, Heather was acclaimed as Chair of the Richmond Board of Education, a role in which she emphasized trust, transparency, and connection. She served as Vice Chair in 2025/26. She is known for her open-mindedness, critical thinking, and genuine desire to listen to families, staff, and students.

Heather's guiding principle is simple. “Our students are our future, and they all deserve the highest quality education.” Her work continues to focus on building confidence in the district, strengthening communication, and ensuring every student in Richmond is supported to thrive.
