Email Ken HamaguchiKen has lived in Richmond for more than 60 years and is a proud graduate of the Richmond School District. He and his wife, Mette, raised their two sons, Trevor and Jeremy, here, both of whom graduated from the Richmond school system. Ken remains deeply grateful for the education his family received. He credits Richmond's teachers and schools for providing not only strong academic foundations, but also the social and life skills that prepared his children, and himself, for success beyond Grade 12.
After high school, Ken earned a Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. During this time, he began working with children with autism. Now in his 40th year in the field, Ken has operated his own private consulting practice for 25 years, supporting children, families, and community organizations.
Ken brings a steady, experienced, and reassuring presence to the Richmond Board of Education. His long-standing connection to the community, combined with years of consistent service, provides stability at a time when public education continues to evolve. He believes that, despite the challenges of recent years, it is important to recognize and celebrate the many successes across the district. Students, teachers, administrators, and support staff have all contributed to making Richmond's schools positive, welcoming, and successful places to learn and work.
Ken is committed to building on this momentum and looks forward to working collaboratively with the community over the next four years.
