Email Martin LiMartin Li is a longtime Richmond resident who grew up here after immigrating to Canada as a child. He attended Ferris Elementary and Richmond Secondary before earning his Bachelor of Arts (BA) from UBC and a post-graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from SFU. As a Mandarin speaker, Martin understands the importance of making every student and family feel welcome, respected and included.
For more than a decade, Martin has worked in public service and education, including with the City of Richmond, UBC and Langara College. His work has focused on serving people, solving problems and helping organizations work better. At the City of Richmond, Martin taught swimming and lifesaving to children and young adults, helping them build confidence and essential safety skills. His professional experience also includes human resources, recruitment, labour relations, workplace safety and policy development.
Martin continues to give back to Richmond as a Director on the Board of Pathways Clubhouse Society of Richmond and as a member of the Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset, supporting community initiatives and youth leadership.
Martin is running for School Trustee because Richmond is home, and he wants to give back to the community that helped shape him. He believes every student deserves a safe, supportive and inclusive school. As a trustee, Martin will listen to students, families and educators, ask thoughtful questions, respect public resources and work collaboratively on practical solutions.
His goal is simple. Put students first and help build schools where every child can learn, grow and feel they belong.
